Joe, you go with the late model stuff. I don't want to know anymore than running a carb on one of these.lol
This guy's site I'm going to post usually has very later model motors with very low miles. Several from the old site have purchased from him and have heard no complaints. I think the price on this LS1 LQ4 with all that comes with it, is pretty good. Also has a couple of LS2 but like you mentioned,,still on the high end.

Re: A V-8 van in my driveway
I felt the same way as you, until I saw this '55 Chevy sedan (full street car) run 10.70 on street tires with an automatic and a very mild LS1, some time back! It was almost 2 full seconds faster than my "mini" stroker in my 12.40/110 S-10 and gets better fuel economy, even though it's about 6-700 lbs heavier and the '55 has A/C! True, I didn't know fuel was going to be so expensive, but it's a great by-product of this engine! I hadn't been to the drag strip in a while, although I was a regular competitor for many years...I was unprepared for the Camaro/Firebird and Corvette LS1 powered cars going 10's right off of the street! There were tons of them! Sure got my attention! LOL! The 350 cars were there in large number and some were really fast, no question, but the handwriting is already on the wall....If I do a V-8 in my Astro (still runs really well) I would hope I could do a Gen III engine of some type...Gotta admit, the 350 really looks tempting because of it's ease of installation!

Re: A V-8 van in my driveway
Joe,,there are a couple of guys here who have swapped both the LT1 and LS to an Astro so when you just can't sleep at night any longer, I'm sure they'll join in and share all the info you may need.
Take care and have a good weekend.
