Hamvention 2008 and lifted van...

Hey all... i'm down in Dayton, OH for the big Hamvention (Ham radio convention/swap) mainly looking through the fleamarket/sellers for electronics, parts, etc. Just wondering if anybody else here is down this way for the meet. I know Alex (Mr Roboto) was into ham a little but wasnt sure if he was making the trip this year.

AND... to my astro/safari obsession amazement... I saw a nice lifted ~1993 van on some nice rims, topped off with an OverlandVans.com sticker on the back. Will have to talk to the guy tomorrow and learn more about it! ASV plugg etc. I'll post a picture or two soon.

Here she is. I was able to talk to the guy for a few about it. He got the lift from overlandvans and loves it. Goes cruising over sand dunes mainly. Overall it has a 4 inch lift and 31" x 10.5" x 15" tires.

Haha, you bet! We were talking about mods and I mentioned the many of you who have done V8 swaps, lifts, etc...all at astrosafarivans.com Said to him i took a picture and wanted to post it up and he said "sweet!" haha.

No problem! The show wasn't bad. I'm not a big ham guy (radio or meatwise ) but me and my buddies who are ham guys also go every year. I mainly go for the electronics, components, and fleamarket stuff. Picked up a nice new Garmin foreflex GPS, good deal on a new 3 watt LED maglight, and a FM radio broadcaster kit. I picked up a few other small items like LEDs, audio connectors, etc.

We stay over for one night and find the things we missed the first day and flirt with the LED sales girls a little more. (wink emoicon). One of the girls recognized me and told me i was on youtube. I was a little shocked and confused but i guess they film and take pictures at times so I guess I'll have to search for hamvention 2008 on there, haha!
