Liberty Denied - My wife doesn't get to drive

Post by ihatemybike »

Just got a call from my wife. Her brake pedal hit the floor while stopping for a light. :yikes: Pumping doesn't help. Using the e-brake to assist braking she got it home, where she discovered mass leaking near one of the front wheels. Looks like I know what we're doing after work.

That's always a fun feeling when your brake pedal behaves like a stomped on slug. You'd be amazed just how fast your brain works then.

I hope I never have to experience it. E-brake pedal in these vans is hard for my long legs to hit.

Smart wife. I think most people wouldn't think to use the emergency brake, but rather just scream as they plowed into whatever was in front of them.

Yes, my wife is a good one. Turns out that the hard line's crimping rusted enough to allow it to separate from the flex line. It's repaired now and she did about half the work to replace it. She's a happy grease monkey. :D

kudos
Mine too, she likes doing the discs, the drums she leaves to me. We did 12 wheels not so long ago one weekend. now we have 16 to maintain. Good to hear you got it taken care of. Now all you need to do is have a 17 year old son, they come in real handy sometimes.

I get my 12 year old daughter into the mix when I can. I have to keep her going with the wrenches or the video camera or else she gets bored and wonders off.

Here's what we saw when we removed the wheel.

I ordered the other side since it appears to have the same amount of rust. Glad she wasn't on the interstate or descending a steep trail, things coulda been hella bad.
