Mom's in the Hospital. Need some prayers...

Post by dumb lady »

We're in the midst of a crisis here...Started last night.
Mom's been admitted to the hospital. She had a terrible episode of I know not what, & I had to call an ambulance.
She had a routine doctor's visit JUST YESTERDAY & checked out 100% fine!!!!!

What happened was, last night just as I was getting her bed ready for her, she suddenly vomited. Cleaned her up & went straight into bed. This was just after dinner. She didn't eat much. That's not unusual for her as sometimes she's fickle. (Her blood sugar was 135 when I tested it b/4 dinner)

Then, after 10 minutes lying in bed, she turned gray & started shivering. IT WAS SO SCARY!!!
I covered her with extra blankets & called for an ambulance right away.

The episode only lasted all of 20 minutes. They ran a bunch of tests in the hospital & kept her overnight. Except for being exhausted from enduring torturous tests for hours, she was in good spirits when I left her bedside. But she's 82 & paralyzed. I'm scared they're gonna kill her in there somehow...

Docs called this morning....
They suspected it was her heart, but after many, many tests... Except for a very slight bladder infection... They still can't find anything wrong!!
Weird.

I'm so tired as I didn't get home until 2:30. I have to get ready to go & see her now...
She is in very good health otherwise, considering her circumstance...
But being in the hospital can be VERY traumatic to her health!!
Please everyone, pray for my Mom.
Thanks so much.

Tell granny that Petey absolutely forbids any more of her shenanigans! She is to return home at once and NEVER turn grey again.
Grey? What was she thinking? It's one of the most unflattering colours out there.....

Hey everybody,
Thanks for the kind words, prayers & well-wishes. Yes Mom is very happy to have me there. She's happy I'm there to explain things to her... She can't hear so good, but my screachy voice can wake the dead & cut through anything.

Got home from the hospital at 7:00pm & jumped right into the pool. I spent 7 hours in a hard chair at Mom's bedside last night & more of the same today... My old stiff body needed movement! I feel so much better now.

Mom is looking good & doing well. They keep poking & prodding her with all sorts of things. I fed her lunch & dinner (liquid diet) & she ate pretty good.

We watched Jerry Springer together. (She loves Tabloid-type entertainment) They had all the "normal" freakishness, but then came a toe-sucking minister who strayed from his wife to suck the toes of another! We laughed like hell at that one together:)

Afterwards her granddaughters popped in for a visit which made her smile.

She's on clear liquids now & doesn't like that. But I'm making sure she eats what she's given & that she's comfortable. Mom just wants to come home, but I still dunno when they're gonna release her. Maybe not until Monday.

I'm gonna do my PT floor exercises now then go walking with my daughters.
Thanks again for all the prayers etc. It's working!
I'll be back tomorrow with another update.
BIG (((hugs))) to you all!

thinking of you guys DL. make sure you remeber to take care of 'YOU' too. i've been to far too many hospitals and tests and Dr's over the last year and taking care of Jen for the first several months after her brain aneurysm to know how you are feeling. it's scary. it's lonely. it's stressful. it's tiring. make sure you also take care of you.

Good morning everybody & thanks again for all the well wishes. You guys are like my family & are always here for me. And that's a wonderful feeling. God bless your kind hearts.

Mr Smiley, mom isn't leaving us just yet. MOM IS COMING HOME!! Hopefully, Monday. Think positive thoughts. [-o< [-o< [-o<
Have to go visit Mom & bring her the Enquirer today. She loves all that tabloid sh^t. I'm worried about her coming home with bedsores so I had the nurse order her an air mattress yesterday. Now, to make sure it comes today...

Mr D/L needs my van to go to an auction in Tampa with his friend so I'm stuck in the skateboard again. IT HAS NO A/C! Would cost a small fortune to fix it.
The A/C in the van still works thanks to Mr SoCalli who when he was here fixed it. It was 80* here today *BEFORE* 8:00am!!

Darren, Mom remembers you very well. Before you came she said "NO!! Don't bring a *MAN* from the computer into the house. HE WILL KILL US ALL!!" ...Too many crime shows, I guess. :muhaha: :muhaha:
But she adores you now & hopes you come back more often.

Mr crash I can only imagine how horrible that was for you & Jen.
Thanks, I'm taking care of myself because with arthritis I have too. Sitting with Mom for hours is very hard for me. But I have to do it lest she lose heart. And I need to monitor the care she is receiving.

My arthritis is VERY painful making me stiff & will not let me ignore my body. So I come home & go straight into the pool & keep moving for 30-40 minutes. Then I have 20 minutes of PT floor exercises. Then a 45 minute evening walk with the dog & my daughters. PIA sometimes but the plus side is, it keeps me looking fit.

I need to get ready to go now.
Have a great day & thanks again everyone.
