Hitchgate is cool (and pricey) , but as far as newest wave, I was thinking, hitchhaul.... with tire mounted on/in it.
would still be exposed to environment, but would be were it could be easily serviced (visually, pressure checked regularly or with the pressure checkers that stay on your valve stem and show green for 27 psi or over, and no green color for under 27 psi.. (gas savers?)

2000 Astro, passenger van. Converted into a cargo van, used for Carpet cleaning (10 lbs of crap, in a 5 lb bag)
