The world of the Dragonfly
Just a couple pics I snapped today of a Dragonfly that landed on some herbs and stayed for lunch, an amazingly intricate wing structure on these bugs...

What a steady hand you have there.
God's beauty is still out there to be seen.

Simply wonderful.....Zam. He's one of the good guys. Lots of them here in Florida. Can't say I've ever seen one quite that colorful. The hotair balloon I took all of my training in was called the "Dragonfly".

Thanks, I was havin a coffee this morn when he landed nearby in the herbs, I watched him for about 5 min then figured I'd try to get some pics,I thought he would for sure fly away before I returned with the camera, but he was happy to just stay there and rest. Evidently they're # 1 source of food is skeeters which def makes them one of the good guys skip, and yes they are very cool looking, now to find me a Praying Mantis

While working at the summer Nature camp I had one land on my shoulder and stay there while I walked the trails for like 15 minutes then he left.
If you want a praying mantis look in the church.
Gearing up for another great camping season Camper is re packed and ready to roll.

Re: The world of the Dragonfly
Nice camera. My daughter has a S51S. She's taken some pretty artistic photos with it.
I've got to show her your dragonflies when she gets back in town.
I have a S31S. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the 51, but now you've got me wondering what I might be able to do with it. I've pretty much been using it as a phd camera so far (push here dummy).
Man you must've read the manual and have a photographic memory.

Re: The world of the Dragonfly
Very cool pics! Yesterday when I was mowing the lawn.I had to keep stopping so a baby praying mantis could pass through! Another one of the good guys.So if I see them,I give them plenty of room.Must have seen about a dozen of them, only a couple inches long.

Re: The world of the Dragonfly
Amazing shots, Zam! I have a Canon SD850IS, but it sounds like you are a bit more savvy with your camera than I am with mine. I have taken a few decent shots of some creepy crawly critters but none quite as spectacular as these! =D>
