My new ride!! lol don't laugh

Post by Logan »

So, i like my Astros A LOT. I love them in fact. But I happen to have a friend (girl) :-$ that lives about 40 miles away. ONE WAY!! So needless to say, the V8 van is too expensive to drive a my AWD isn't much better. So I was able to trade some manual labor with my ex-father-in-law for this little beauty here. 1990 Ford Festiva. He had the engine rebuilt about 40,000 miles ago and it actually gets about 38 miles per gallon with the WORKING air conditioning! lol Here is a before and after picture after cleaning it up and a little paint. Did you know those are 12 TWELEVE inch wheels?? There are pizza's bigger than that! Lol

I just noticed the tint. Is that so no one can see you driving it? :muhaha:

Sorry. I just had to.

I was going to get a 92 Geo Metro on the road that was in the yard but it would have cost a grand to get it legal again. Not.

I had a 1990 4 door 3cyl automatic Firefly for nearly a year. It was gutless as anything i mean it couldn't get out of the way of a sneeze. I know because a good sneeze would make it change lanes :muhaha: . But it was a hoot to drive, probably because you could ring it right out and still never draw any attention to yourself because your still barley speeding.

Good for you I bet the little beast grows on you after a while.

3 cyl w/ an automatic? what was it a centrifugal clutch?
Who made the firefly? sounds like a subaru justy. sold here in the US, years ago. My wife, before I met her, totaled one, wound up with her head wedged between the door and pillar.
I road in a 2 cyl citroen in france in the early '80's. A moped was faster.

The Firefly was by Pontiac it was also the Chevy Sprint and the Suzuki swift. It was a 1.0L 3cyl 3speed automatic. The good thing is you couldn't beat that car hard enough to get less than 50mpg. I still miss it some days. (like every time I fill up)

In the US the Firefly was known as Geo/Chevy Metro. A used car / junk yard down by my parents house has a '94 in the back that I'm thinking about asking them about.

Yep I fit. It's the getting in and out that's the problem. :-) Once in there though.... it's not too bad. And yes the window tint is to hide my face. :-)
