My first car was one of these:

Of course reading way to many Hot Rod magazines I couldn't leave well enough alone.Using Trans-adapt engine mounts and putting blocks between the front suspension and the frame and a 55 chevy rearend,we put in a 354 Hemi in this with a torqueflight tranny with a cut driveshaft.Man with that 800lb engine the frontend fell right on the ground. #-muhaha: :muhaha: Yeah part of a learning curve for sure. :-k :-k

We used to beat these all the time.

Oddly enough I never got one ticket with the Ford.

Sold it and was driving a 57 Chevy with a 283 and lost my license with that for 6 months. #-o #-o :muhaha: :muhaha:

My boys still remember riding in this when they where babies.

Yet these had some the most Lux rides and some say it was one of the fastest production rides ever built.

Some say it was even faster than the Hemi's.

My ex-brother-in-law's brother owned one and man it sure was sweet.

The pics brought back a few memories from back in the day.

Here's a little more trivia to add along with your post. The Beach Boy's release of 409 was recorded in one of the guys garage around midnight, the neighbors were raising hell and it was a 348 and not a 409 you hear in the backgorund of the recording. Car was actually outside the garage for the recording and not added later. Now I'm sure knowing this has made everyones day.

I had one of these as a street/strip car that didn't have the hood scoops.I put in a purple cam and control box with a Edelbrock intake and a 650 holley and headman headers with a torqueflight tranny. The last yr I owned it I added a set of T/A heads.I ran it in street E.T.It became a car in the top three every wk at two tracks.LOL-a guy came up to me at the track and offered me all the money for the mods and enough to finsh off the payments.Yeah,I jumped all over that one.
