Black wheels and facia

Post by T.Low »

My buddy just painted his wheels black on his Sportsmobile. Its tan with black off road bumpers front and rear. It looks good with black wheels.

He photo-shopped my wheels and trim black.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I like those wheels a lot. Been eyeing on CL but they always seem to be the wrong sizes for sale.

Sorry, not a fan of black 99% of the time. Too me, black wheels and black tires are just too much. (Now if you are going to spray paint your tires a different color... :poke: )

Yeah, I'm not sure how I like it yet. It took years to go thru my "chrome" wheel phase and I've been in "alloys" for a long time now, but not sure I'm thru with alloys.

Also, dirty alloy looks fine. And the Pewter facia looks fine dirty. Like Phrisk said, my van looks better dirty in some instances than it does clean. To me, black needs to be glossy, and it just looks unkept if its dirty.

And frankly, I way too many mods left to do before I can worry about painting anything.

However, if I find a deal on a good set of mud terrains on those black Rockcrushers like Skippy has, I may snap them up.

Edit: Skippy, I keep seeing 15's on CL with used MTs, and if they were 16", I would have grabbed them.

Problem is it looks good both ways. You just need to decide whether or not you want your van to look like 20,000 others in town, or if you want to stand out. Looks like you have a pretty nice paint job, if you didn't I'd say do it for sure. Not sure about the chrome grille painted black. I'd say black wheels, bumper and cladding but leave the grille chrome. Then slap on a set of black reflector headlights and turn signals.

I painted my bumper with "bumper paint" from Duplicolor and it looked awesome until it began to flake off. Somehow I doubt a "professional" paint job would stick without flaking after a while either. You might just take an awesome looking van and make it look like crap!

Well, that was helpful. :-s Some of my mods live only on my hard drive, like those in my sig. Good luck! Your van looks great as it is.
