What connectors does the stock am/fm radio have?
What connectors does the stock am/fm radio have?
I want to make some improvements to my van but I don't want to change the plain jane appearance. I think one of the best deterrents to theft is to make something look like it is not worth stealing What kind of cables are there coming off of the stock am/fm radio ? I would like to install some sound equipment in a hidden location and hook them into the plain-jane stereo. I know that the little empty "hole" in the dash under the stereo was originally designed to hold some additional sound equipment. Is there a connector for another input? Also, is there a way to add an amplifier between the stereo and the stock speakers?

You can buy adapters at any decent auto sound store.

basically none - what you would probably want if you would like to keep the stock deck is to add a wired FM transmitter such as http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop ... 4245228235
Wired FM transmitters have MUCH better sound quality than non-wired versions - however they have gotten better

Thanks...some good ideas. Maybe I will install a new one and make a door to cover the new stereo...I will cut off the front of the old stereo to make the new door
or find some more reasonable idea

I tired to do that however it seems that GM factory databus screws with a simple addition of a aux input - the "decks" actually talk to each other and it is not just a simple matter of adding a pair or RCA inputs of 1/8" stereo jack - just my opinion - I bet there is a way to trick the databus
