HEY! Peter!

Post by CaptSquid »

<shudder> I never thought that this would happen, but I need your technical expertise.

As you may know, Father Frost has sent his Alberta Clipper to visit us down here in the 48, some of us with a vengeance.

Anyway, I have come home to a chill box twice and awoke to same chill three times, even though the thermostat is set to 78º. The thermometer on the wall read 53º. Not good. Especially not good when visiting the porcelain fixture and one has to expose portions of one's anatomy to the weather.

The t-stat is an old mercury bulb t-stat that shows a resistance of 2 ohms when the contacts are closed. But the only way I can get the furnace to kick in is to short the two wires.

HELP!

Poor Squiddy has to call petey to help keep him warm? something dont sound right lol.

On the serious side, The heater in my diggs is so old that the installers little advertisement sticker has the first 3 phone numbers listed as CL8-xxxx.

I've Woke a few nights with the temp below 60 degrees myself. usually a few good raps on the access door makes it fire back up. works ok for a while then repeat the process. access doors getting a little creased now.
Still Kickin...

Not only no, but H*** NO! I was there for the World Series Earthquake, slap dab betwixt Candlestick and the epicenter. It was an E-Ticket ride, but I don't like that ride no more.

Big deal.... you are so scared if the ground shakes a little once every couple of years......?

That you just can`t take livin` in 350 days a year of beautiful warm sunshine, with year round beach life, barbyQ`s and car-shows.....

So, have fun pointing your junk and pissin` icecubes into the porcelain....

Yeah, move to California. That'll fix all your problems. As long as you know how to swim. That'll come in handy when that state falls into the ocean..... [-o<

If shorting the stat wires gets her running, then the stat's gotta go. Dispose of the old one properly (that doesn't mean wearing rubber gloves while tossing it in the garbage can, btw :smurf: ).
Get yourself a new programmable stat and be done with it :supz:
