Snow got you down? Car show pics to lift you up
So while some of our northern folks might be buried up to their necks in snow right now, I can't imagine there would be too many car shows up there right now. So I thought I'd post some pics of the Old Town Saturday night cars show from this past weekend to help get you folks through this rough time.
I can't even imagine not having car shows for half the year!!
Anyways, some of the pictures suck, I still haven't figured out how to take good night time shots, but hopefully you'll like.
P.S. I'm not a classic car guru, I couldn't even tell you what half the cars are, but I'm sure a lot of you will know...
A few bugs... there was probably 20 or more Volkswagon beetles there that night.
Now, I've got dozens more photos to post, but if the pictures aren't doing it for you, here's a video of part of the cruise, the whole cruise was approx 40 minutes, there were over 300 cars in attendance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP4odWwu8Fo
And please check out the video, even if just for a minute, it took FOREVER (about 6 hours - and that's with high speed internet) to upload.

Nice pics, Steve. Cherie and I go to Old Town occasionally. There's always a lot of really nice cars. I currently own a 1978 Datsun 280Z. Not a piece of crap, Kabey. Three first place trophys in three shows.

Well Smilie, maybe your "Z" isn't a piece of crap, but my 1970 2000 was.
I was the second owner, it was 6 years old and was already showing signs of rust that got so bad you had to be careful where you put the jack. There were stress cracks down both doors that caused the mirrors to fall off, and it would overheat in traffic.
Yes it was a piece of crap.
At the other end of Datsun quality a buddy of mine and myself used to race a 510 mini stock.
I still like the 510's. They were well built, well balanced, and didn't seem to rot out like most Datsun products.

Re: Snow got you down? Car show pics to lift you up
I remember riding in a buddies '78 280Z, it's floorboard was rusted out. Had to sit with your legs wide open, otherwise you might lose one driving down the road. But it sure was fun, I'd love to have one.
So tell me, I've got a bunch more pics to post up, is the size of the pics okay? Also, anyone know the secret to taking pictures at night? I could've used the flash all night, but I didn't like the way the photos looked. With the shine from the paint and the chrome, it made for very bright (too bright) pictures. So I tried messing with the exposure settings and found that if I moved the slightest bit, the picture blurred. Any clues?

Use a tripod with a delayed exposier setting or remote shutter acuator, then you won't cause the camera to jiggle when the shutter is activated.

The pics are a little big. If you keep them to around 800 x 800 or so, they fit on the screens better.astronut74 wrote:So tell me, I've got a bunch more pics to post up, is the size of the pics okay?

very nice rides. A lot of elbow grease went into those.
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). B&M stacked plate trans cooler. Bilstein shocks. Belltech sway bars front and back. New head unit, speakers and subwoofer. Needs paint and a new headliner.

Re: Snow got you down? Car show pics to lift you up
Here's a bunch more for you.
this is one of my favorites, mainly because of the engine. It's a 1934 Ford with a 1986 350 corvette TPI engine. There is just something about the TPI intake that I love. This one has the siamesed runners.
I threw this one in here because it was the best picture of the car I had. the others were either very dark or very blurry. This one only my son is blurry...
Well, I hope you all enjoyed it. If you are ever in the Orlando area you should really check out the Old Town car show on Saturday night. There's a car show on Fridays as well for newer models cars. My son had a blast, and loves going to carshows. It really is fun for the whole family.
Hmmm... I probably should have put a "dial up disclaimer" in the subject title....
