not that i need another 99...

Post by crash »

too good of a deal to pass up...

came across a very clean 99 with 223,000 kms on it (that's 138,000 miles)... it was originally listed at $3500 cdn.... today it was dropped to $2100... based on what it needs for a safety check... the interior is spotless

it's been krown rust proofed since new. no rust, long time owner, it's an LS, hitch, all the usual stuff. needs tires, tail light, idler arm on the right side, front pads and rotors for safety.

that's not alot in parts for me... i spoke to the lady this morning... she said they'd get it emission tested for $1900.... HOLY! .. it's pending a buyer coming up with the money .. she has given him until saturday at 12noon .. then she'll let me know ....

Seems like a great deal. What's the "quick" test for the idler arm?

more info... i went and checked it out last night. what a clean van. doesn't even have a speck of rust where the front fenders meet the bumper cover, very rare in Ontario.. :yawinkle:

it's a one owner since brand new.

the interior is so clean you could eat off any part of it (not that i would, don't like the carpet fibres lol) =D>
dutch doors, air works

only two issues other than what i already mentioned, right rear cladding has a crack in it right where it wraps behind the bumper. the drivers door lock actuator seemed intermittent with the remote fob. other than that, it's in excellent condition.... better than my white 99 i'd say, with 68,000 more kms on it .. sshhhhh! lol [-X

i should know by noon tomorrow if the prospective buyer falls through.. not really sure what i'm going to do with it exactly, i haven't planned ahead that far yet, we'll see...

well, I was always told, never assume... LOL

I'm assuming it's gone. Never heard anything from the lady and she was to know by around 12 - 1230pm today .. it's now 443pm. only good thing would be that i told her i was working until 4pm anyway... and she's a real estate agent that was doing two house showings today about an hour away....

I want to go drive by her place and see if it's still there.. don't want to seem like I'm stalking the van.. :-k

LOL.. I honestly couldn't bring myself to stalk it last night.. 8-[
I'm heading to my mothers place an hour away, in Milton, this morning and as I leave town I drive right by the street the van resides at.. I'll be doing a quick lap around the block to see if it's still residing there :peep:

I've emailed the lady again this morning (at 6am) .. and asked her to call my cell and let me know what's up... I'll be away from a pc til around 2pm ... i'm not feeling too hopeful

i do really want it... i just don't know what my intentions are with it.

she emailed me back when I was out of town. says meeting the guy that was buying it didn't come together on saturday. the van did pass the emissions testing though. he's coming to get it later this week and he assures me he wants it.

my reply.. probably wasn't impressive. something along the lines of: I told you I have cash in hand for the van, literally in my hand. the deal we had was if he doesn't pick up by noon saturday it's mine. what happened to your deal with me? you kept your deal with him to hold til saturday at noon.

hmm.. i never got a reply back. some people really tick me sometimes.... gone are the days people actually trusted others and stuck to their word.

yanno cobra.. it really wouldn't surprise me at all. since moving to woodstock i've never seen so many people that don't have the cash for anything.. 'can ya hold til pay day', 'can i pay you $100 every two weeks', yadda yadda .. this guy is from chatham apparently, not sure on the situation there... lol wouldn't surprise me if he's stalling until payday on thursday.

btw the van is still sitting in the midas parking lot where the emissions test was done [-(
