I believe so,to accept his Warn winch. It may be a Warn bumper.

It is a Warn classic for the 88+ chevy 1/2 tons I think. We modified the mounts and the bumper to fit. In the end the mounts were welded to the subframe and it has proven to be very strong...just ask that civic or whatever it was that played tag! :muhaha:

How much added weight are we looking at? How much did it make the front end sag? I'm assuming its steel and not aluminium?

Did the overall end to end length work or is that the major part of what you had to modifiy? If so, at what points did you cut for length? Can we get any more detailed shots of it? Recovery points?

I suspect you to modify the the "lid" (top platform) to follow the contour of the vans front end?

What size winch did you go with and are you satisfied with the choice?

Great thread, Aaron Jim, and Dean.

Thanks for any replies.

Tom,

The bumper and winch adds probably 150# to the front. I don't recall much sag with the added weight although I would think it'll sag a little...maybe 1/4" - 1/2". The bumper is all steel. The winch is a 6,000# model.

The bumper was not modified for width except for cutting the ends off where the wheel arch meets it. Seems like we cut maybe 4" off. The mounts were 100% custom made and welded so the bumper can bolt up. At least I think so.

I could not find any more pics of the mods and install. I just remember it happening here at my place sometime in spring/summer 2004. Hopefully Chris will see this and post up more recent pics as well as details!
