Drivers door locked and closed

Post by Kidhauler »

Well here is the story. Got a call from the wife saying that the drivers door will not unlock with the key or electric lock buttons also it will not unlock by manually moving the lock button. Funny thing is the door worked fine 30min ago.

Everything is jammed. The key will not turn to unlock and the slider button inside will not move either. I need help the van is a 99 touring edition. Can the door panel be removed with the door closed without destroying it??? Any suggestions as to how to get the door open???

HELP!!!

Thanks
Kevin

Sometimes the handle rod will stay partially extended. Without denting the door give the door a few wacks around the handle area to knock it loose. Let me know if it works.

I pulled the panel off that has the window and door lock controls and managed to get the door to unlock by grabbing the rod that normally makes the inside little plunger go up and down and pulling hard. The door unlocked and worked fine for about 20 cycles then the passenger door started to have some problems. I know the old owner said he had some problems with the door locks but they had been replaced. I think the linkage is binding the electric locks will not lock or unlock the door but the key will work fine now. Tomorrow I am going to pull the door panels off and go thru the linkages on both doors and see what is going on.

thanks for the tip. I was thinking along the same lines but didn't know if anyone had had this problem before.
