I screwed up but maybe its still possible
Yesterday (as with every sunday) I DJ'd a cruise night and this older man
and I were talking and I told him about the project safari I am curently working on. He politely told me he had a 1987 astro cargo van with a 4 cylinder/5 speed he had sitting on his property and he would sell it for 300 bucks. I told him (stupid me) I had a parts van already. This morning I awoke thinking how that 87 would make a very nice winter vehicle and economicle too but alas it was too late as I didn't even get his name. I sure hope he comes next week so I can buy it. Hind site is as always 20/20.. Mark

Re: I screwed up but maybe its still possible
I would buy it in a minute if it was close to me. Why are the manual transmission vans always on the other side of the country? I have yet to see one, with anything useful still in them, in a J.Y. or for sale. I found one and the guy on the phone said it was all there come get it. When I got there only thing that was there was the body and it was beat up bad. Heck I haven't seen one around here in 10 years or more, even on the street, and then I didn't care.
1989 RS Astro, V-8 and maybe a shift it myself tranny, still deciding on this one. Dutch doors, Cad tail lights, shaving the rest now. 12 bolt rear end was in the van when I got it but changing how it sets to lower.

Re: I screwed up but maybe its still possible
The problem is this: the only way I will see the owner/seller is if it does not rain on Sunday. If it rains the cruise in is canceled, Even if we do the cruise the seller may not even show up. So basically I want it and can afford it but I have to catch up with the seller somehow.

Re: I screwed up but maybe its still possible
i know of three here in my area, all older owners like you said, and all in a weird cream tan color ive never seen before also all cargos, well one is a half panel....i would think the four bangers would get worse mileage though due to that little engine having to work so hard to push that big van...
99 SLT Safari AWD, G80/GT4 rear, Burgundy, 196,000 and counting (strictly AMSOIL) flowmaster 40series muffler no more cat, K&N Kone Filter, roll pan, 255/60/15 rubbers mounted to 15x8.5 inch American Racing Tailgunner wheels, billet grille, CB Radio, Alpine Deck, Shag carpet, the list goes on....
