Canada explained to Americans

Post by crash »

I don't mean any disrespect with this one. I know that American schools educate about American history and geography. They don't get into much about other countries. Some kids grow up not knowing much about anything outside of the US borders, not even about Canada. This piece was done by NBC during the first week of the Olympics and it was done very well IMO.

If you have 6min to spare I'd suggest watching the entire piece. Might learn something you didn't know about Canada....

Thanks
Rob

Our health care system is under stress because we are all getting older and the next generation of workers is not going to be enough (population wise) to keep the system going as the boomers age.
Our system does provide funding for care outside of Canada, so long as it can be proven that the care needed can not be done in Canada in a reasonable amount of time.

I know Pete, it's not as bad as the main stream media makes it out to be. Nothing ever is. Just shootin some bull.
Sounds like the Canadian healthcare system is in the same boat as our social security - upside down.

Your S/S is going to go the way our Federal Pension Plan is going.
That being down the toilet.
In Canada, if your employed, you have to pay into the Federal Pension Plan, it's the law.
Like taxes and unemployment insurance, it comes of your paycheque before you recieve your paycheque.
I have paid into it my entire working life, but by the time I'm eligible for it there will be nothing left.
As with our medical insurance, there will not be enough people paying into it for it to support itself.
I have no plans on collecting it.
