Anyone know where I can get a good deal on some 3.5" O.D. thin wall tubing suitable for use in cold air intake systems? I just need about a foot or so of straight tube.
Thanks!

Try your plumbing supply store. They have lots of cool stuff that can be adapted.

I got my stuff at a diesel truck place. They had steel, aluminium, and rubber straights and bends.

Re: Cold air intake tubing
Weelll, I used some 3" seamless "fart fan" duct work on my '92 Vortec, 4.3. It also comes in 4". it's corrugated and collapsed, so that you can stretch it out and bend it, w/out any kinks. Works really well. Then I insulated it with some aerocel, it's green foamy, kinda plastic "stuff" used to insulate between the stem wall of a building foundation and the pressure treated sill plate of the framing...It comes in rolls, get it at a lumber yard...yeah, Home dePot has it. Then, wrap that w/ a GOOD grade, as in expensive duct tape, GORILLA TAPE, comes to mind, but there are others. I used about 8 passes of tape. The duct was pretty darn rigid when complete. And the 3" will flow more than the throttle body. At least on a 4.3.
There are two kinds of fart fan duct, seamless(preferred) and the seamed(unwanted). I got mine from the heating guy in the track I was framing in, I don't know if the home owner box stores carry the seamless or not. You might want to go to a HVAC contractor, or a wholesale supplier. Oh, yeah, fart fan duct is used for bathroom exhaust fans.
Over the stock duct work, which choked down to a inch & a half by 2, it was art least 10 HP. way more noticeable than a cotton filter. Also, make a block off plate for the EGR...worked great on my modified '92 4.3 vortec, not so well on a '97...stock...
Cheers
