Hello Everyone...
I've been looking for a mesh type wheel for my '87 Astro and was wondering if anyone would mind sharing some suggestions (for example: http://www.bigwheels.net/?location=whee ... odel=Penta ). The Astro's bolt pattern is a real nuisance so I was also wondering if anyone had ever heard of anyone doing a wheel hub swap to a more widely used bolt pattern. I have considered wheel adapters but I have every intention of towing with my van and don't want to compromise the strength or safety. Finally does anyone know if there is a standardized method of rating wheel strength? I've asked a few wheel retailers and they get this strange look on their faces as if they can't comprehend why such a standard would be relevant to safety.

this is as close as I could come...capulet_x wrote: (for example: http://www.bigwheels.net/?location=whee ... odel=Penta ).
bought them off ebay a few years back. they were originally gold mesh. i refinished them in black. they do need to be done again... a gunmetal would be cool with the machined lip. they are pretty old school though. i like them. maybe why i haven't sold them already, they were a beeotch to find in the first place LOL

Those look pretty nice. What size are they... 16s? I was aiming for more of a clean "euro" look but I might have to go with the wheels pictured here ( http://www.mautofied.com/1989-Chevrolet ... 100301271/ ) if I can't find what I'm looking for.
Any ideas about a wheel hub swap?
I'm thinking again about the wheel adapters...maybe if I cancel out the offset created by the adapter by choosing and equal but opposite wheel offset?
btw, who makes the wheels that you have?

Re: Mesh Style Wheels For Astro...
if you have a competant machine shop nearby, they should be able to re-drill the hubs and drums...nissan hardbody and older mazda mini-truckers have been having this done for years since there are few 6-lug rims that tuck inside the fenders, so they usually get them drilled to 5x4.75 or 5x4.5 to open up wheel choices...the machine shop just has to make sure the holes are hub-centric to avoid vibrations, but a good machinist can do it...
