Supercharger anyone?

Post by SteveTR6 »

Just a thought... I have an opportunity to get hold of an Eaton blower as used on Regal GS, Pontiac SSEi, GTP, etc. I would basically have it as a spare for the wife's 2001 GS, but the gears have started turning.
Has anyone attempted to fit one of these to an Astro 4.3? Besides the obvious manifold issues, what all would be involved? As I think about it, if the factory EFI wouldn't match up one could probably use the OEM unit from the GS, and then there's the issue of the belt drive. Maybe someone has been down this path? Maybe there's even a kit somewhere out there?
Any thoughts?

I'm not a smart enough of a guy to pull off something like this. I like the idea of a supercharger, but I'd be looking for bolt on kit. (I don't know if you can still buy these kits new with the 4.3L being old news... but one will likely pop up on Ebay!)

It would most likely be easier to swap an entire SII or SIII 3.8 into the van. being a turbo nut, I would remote mount a td06-18g or something similar..

I'm currently in the market for a GP in better condition then mine for the beginning of a turbo swap car, All Hail the boost gods man...

I updated my siggy to include the boosted cars owned.
91 6000 LE 3.1 - 186k
92 Ext. AWD CPI -399k+, Needs Fuel Pump
97 Grand Prix GT - 166k
03 Sebring LX 2.4 - 98k, Needs head and timing set :(
87 Conquest LE - 110k, 5sp, I/C'd, TD05-14g@24psi, JVE Elim, Full 3", 88 LSD Swap, 89 ECU, 1g MAS.
89 Conquest TSi - The last one... of the 14 I've owned... being used to rebuild the single owned 87.
