maybe a dumb question, but here it is...
i recently changed my oil. i had 10W-30 in it. i replaced it w/ 20w-50 and a quart of lucas stuff. the reason is i am haveing a smoke issue and it won't pass smog. so i read about this lucas and it claims it wil stop the smoking, and also i was told it would increase performance and smoothaty.(if that's a word). anyway, the question is: how can u tell the slight increase of hp when the van runs smoother. i agree it does run smoother, but it seems slower. before i added this stuff i did a brake stop and spun "burn out" w/ one tire. now i did a brake stop "burn out" and both tires spin "burn out". but they skip on the burn, instead of the smooth spin. is this more power/performance? well renewed? or am i testing it wrong?

Smoke issue a different issue, the thicker oil and lucas only make it better.I be checking PVC tubes for oil inside. It probably suckin oil out of engine crank case.If so plug tube and block it.Run it a while to clean the cylinders test it.When/if it passes get that blockage out it will make gaskets blow due to crankcase pressure.PVC only a visual check that would pass and work.I flat run tubes under van for just that reason.Dont want oil in my cylinders. No oil loss no fouled plugs. As for performance difference it may be there but it so slight you never notice it either way.I run 15-40 in mine.smoother running you would feel.Motor just runs smoother.Main purpose of heavy oil and lucas treatment is it just reduces wear in your engine. It will give a high milage motor a new lease on life.It will last alot longer that way.Ive done lucas in mine.Everybody on here think I full of sh@t but I get in at least 2 races a day with mine and it got 215 thou on it.It not a matter of babying it as just good maintenence to make em last.

As short a time as possible. You may never have an issue but it can cause valve cover gaskets to start seeping oil.I just run tubes from PVC to under van you would never have issues with that. But to get it smogged they got to be in place.Smog police are a pain.It should vent enough pressure from where the PVC goes into valve cover to relieve it and there a tube on other side running to breather for venting also. And if you look there it also probably getting oil in injecters.
