Caught 3 people in the van today...

Post by JTalley »

It was a warm day today, and I just fixed my window track, so I decided to leave it rolled down. I was parked right up next to the school, there's usually someone outside, no harm done, right? WRONG!!!

During lunch I came out of school, and as I walked up to the van, my friend pointed out that there was someone inside. I looked closer and realized there were THREE people inside. Now there's students sitting all around the area, so I screamed as loud as I could "GET OUT OF MY VAN!!!!" At which point I sprinted up to it. As I got closer, I got a good look at the people. Two of them I knew, and one of them is someone I see around school a lot- one of those people that just gives off "weird vibes," or whatever- just makes me feel uncomfortable. So I dash for the driver door, and the guy inside held the lock, so I couldn't get in with my key.
I ran around to the barn door, unlocked it, and with an acrobatic talent that I didn't know I had, I dove over the back seat. Don't ask me to do this again, and don't ask me to tell you how I did it, because I honestly don't know. One minute I was opening the door, next thing I knew I was in the middle of the van with three people clawing at the door handles screaming and yelling. They made a dash, and I got out to shut and lock the back door again. As I walked up to the driver door, a fourth person was already trying to open it. I'm thinking- are you kidding me? I just walked up and said "uh, excuse me?" And he walked away real quick.

I got in and looked around, but nothing was stolen from inside. I do seem to be missing some gas now, though.

That's not even the end of the story. My ignition is broken- always has been- and they had messed with the radio, and were apparently about to drive off when I showed up.
So as I check out the glove box and everything, making sure that nothing was stolen, this fourth person is STILL TRYING TO GET IN. All my doors were locked, though.

Hopefully this world gets better. Crime today has gone from disturbing to just downright crazy.

Regardless, too many people have no respect for others. You SHOULD be able to leave your stuff and not have people mess with it. PERIOD!

It's a heavily trafficked area of the parking lot, I was only parking there from about 12:30 to 3, and there were plenty of expensive cars around. I figured that if anyone was going to steal one, it wouldn't be mine. Apparently, though, my van is now the pinnacle of awesomeness and everyone wants a spin. Needless to say, I don't think I'll ever leave my window down again if I park there. I guess that's what I get for trusting people.

It's useless to report it. The cops in the town I go to school in hate me. One of their narcs gave me some trouble a while back, and when I reported him, they hassled me for ages afterwards and refused to respond to anything I called them over- even when I was attacked. Bad times; I don't wanna talk about it, so please, let's not talk about cops.

File a complaint against the officers involved. Their superior is REQUIRED to take your complaint. don't let them tell you otherwise. Sounds like it's time to GTFO of town.

We did. We live just outside of Davis now, I only go to that town to see my friends, go to school, and run errands, etc. Otherwise I typically stick around Davis.
That police system is just corrupt all the way to the top. I was yelled at by the chief of police for trying to press charges against my dad for destroying my old car. It was so bad that instead of fixing it, we had to sell it. My mom was kind enough to help me out getting the van- she covered everything the trade in value didn't, we got a restraining order on Dad, and we got out of Dodge, so to speak. Like I said, though, I don't wanna talk about it.

Your best bet...keep it locked, DON'T put anything with value in the van during school and place a junk radio in the dash and hide the good one in a bolted down, locked ammo can between the seats. :yawinkle: Let them steal the old broken radio or if it's a stock am/fm they won't bother with it.
Current rides:

Ironically, it was the stock radio they were messing with. #-o

They weren't trying to take it out, but they were apparently trying to get their jam on before hitting the road and couldn't get it the station or something. I'm glad I got there when I did, or else I might've come out to an empty parking space. )>)

sounds like you got there just in time. granted you can't leave anything open or unlocked anymore people should just learn to respect someone else's property. but i guess that would be in a "perfect" world.....
