2000 Chevy Astro 110K miles 6 cylinder
Trying to help my father in law repair his van. The car idles fine but stalls when you accelerate. So far we have checked the following which appeared to be fine:
Fuel pressure, vacuum hoses, MAP, MAF, IAT, EGR, TPS (sensors were checked using the instructions on this site http://easyautodiagnostics.com/index_gm ... cles_1.php
Not sure what to do next, no check engine light or codes. One item we've noticed is that if we disconnect the IAT sensor the car runs (a little rough but doesn't stall at acceleration).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Engine stalls
Welcome to the forum, lazar. It sounds like the only thing left to check is the ignition system.
Thanks for the link, by the way. That looks super handy.
PS. we love photos.

Re: Engine stalls
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I replaced the spark plugs, wires, and distributor cap.

Re: Engine stalls
What is the fuel pressure at idle and during take-off? Did you use a GM cap and rotor at least?

Re: Engine stalls
does the van die out in a bog when you hit the gas right after you start it?
sounds like MAF to me... or possibly a ignition module.

#4 of page 4 for the test procedure of the MAF from that site is going to prove to be a challenge.

since you are cutting off on acceleration I would have to say getting those reading may be a little difficult.Manually accelerate the engine from the engine compartment as you watch the multimeter's frequency readings. The Hertz Frequency readings should increase.
