Is there any way to repair them, and/or prevent them from getting worse?

1989 Astro 4.3 283k. Originally a Zimmer conversion van, now a stripped out cargo.

3 options here.
1. Get it fixed by a professional or like in Captsquids link, neither will last and both will show
2. Get a dash cover
3. Replace the dash pad
