i hit a tree in my 99, and backed it up and drove home. that tree woulda destroyed a smart car.

for 41mpg highway i'd rather surround myself with a Cruze. at least it has more than a foot of car behind your back for when soccer mom texting in suburban rear ends you.
i saw a semi hit a neon on the highway a few weeks ago, the rear bumper was pushed to the back of the front seat, but the lady appeared ok. if it was a smart i think she would have become one with the front bumper of her car.

I didn't realize the mileage was so poor either. I'd rather get a Golf Diesel that has more room and is a little more sporty and gets about the same mileage if not better. Or even a Prius would be better because of the cargo room. I am impressed by the crash test videos. It does hold up very well.
