My friend's mom's car got stolen, and along with it, all their Christmas presents that she had hidden in the trunk. She ended up stranded in another town.
You hear this kind of stuff on the news all the time, but it never really sinks in until it's someone you know. It's just kinda... I dunno... Shocking, I guess. I know mine's nearly been stolen twice, but both times I managed to catch it. Hers was just gone.
I heard that they found it somewhere in Texas, so it looks like all's well, but still...
UPDATE:
I'm at their house now. The car was involved in a high speed chase; it's damaged, but I don't know the extent of the damage. I didn't want to ask since she was telling my friend and I didn't want to be rude.

A simple switch & relay to interrupt power will solve that.
Get a cheap relay and some solder or crimp connectors.
interrupt a fuel pump or starter or ignition circuit.
Hide the switch and tell no one!
And I know its hard, but have a Merry Christmas.

As for the switch, I still haven't found a diagram of the power lines for the fuel pump. I don't want to interrupt the starter circuit because that would be too obvious, and too easy to bypass.

something real simple like a switch and relay that interrupts the wire from the distributor to the coil would also work. As for obvious, most thieves wont go to the trouble of finding out why it doesn't just start as it should. When it doesnt start, they would likely move to the next vehicle, unless they are specifically after YOU, in which case, I dont really know what to suggest cept, buy a .38

Sad story, back about 6 years ago I ran out of gas in one of my Astro V8 projects and was picked up by a friend with a gas can and we took off to get gas, when we returned a flatbed wrecker was just about to load my Astro on his truck. I walked up and asked him what he was doing and he replied "the police called him to pick it up as it was here to long.
I told him he was full of poo and that he should leave. I walked over to the van as he was yelling at me and opened the drivers door and retrieved my Glock 9 (unloaded I just came from shooting) He saw the gun and jumped in his truck and left. I then called the police to find out why they wanted it picked up, to which they replied " Mr Mitchell we have no idea what your talking about we never issued a wrecker call.
Pretty sad when eve wrecker companies are stealing huh?

Recently bought a 1989 Astro RS from Florida. Replaced stock engine witha 1997 5.7 vortec with TBI and replaced transmission with rebuilt 700R4 with mild shift kit.
