Questions about my Astro

Post by deleteitall »

Getting ready to make some changes to the 97 Astro and could use input before I start, had some questions I figured you guys would know...

1. I have debadged most of the van except for the plastic "ASTRO" badges on the lower driver's and passenger's doors. Are these mounted with holes in the door or just adhesive tape? I'm probably going to remove these, but not if it leaves holes in the doors.

2. I am installing an a/c delete bypass pulley and a shorter belt, the way non-a/c vans came stock. Can I leave the compressor on while the a/c delete pulley and shorter belt are on and operating? I can't tell if there is enough room, haven't bought the pulley yet.

3. Both lift supports on the rear gate are wired (at least one has a broken wire). What do these wires control? I assume the dash unlock button wiring to the rear door goes through the rear door, so the lift support wires must be for the interior light to come on or to flask a "gate open" warning?

Thanks!

1. All badges are stuck on.

2. You can leave the compressor on, although your defroster won't be near as efficient. The AC helps dehumidify the interior during defroster operation.

3. On the lift struts, one wire controls the interior lighting. The other wire goes to the latches on either end.
