We got our first big dump of snow this season.
Almost didn't make it home in the Golf.
It's later than usual but there's a lot more snow on the way.
It's times like this that I really cherish my Astro!

Love the view! We finally got our first true winter storm last Friday and Saturday. We have around a foot of the pretty white stuff. Even had our first snowshoe race on Sunday. Only had about 6" there though.
Ben is behind the Paul Smiths College kid, He is wearing a bright green jacket.
Here is my better side. I am on the left with my back to the camera.
Here I come...
There I go...
At the finish line. I finished the 3.63 mile course in 36:34. Ben finished in 32:07. He is usually faster but has a cold in his chest right now and it was cold...11*

Holy Crap, you must be in great condition! That is markedly more difficult that just running.

Heck the road is black, the trees are upright, semi green lawn is visible, roof shingles are also visible and the critters are not using snow shoes by the tracks in the yellow less snow.
Six inches for breakfast with six inches for lunch followed by twelve inches for dinner is ok. If it is day after day then Mountain Women Pass to the valley will be closed. That is too much snow !!

Timeless, the forecast is for about a foot of snow, mid week.
That is just a dusting, but in Coquitlam, its a blizzard eh?
(Kiddin) I used to live in Coquitlam too, at the foot of the hill on Johnson Street, near Glen Drive.
Used to love to dirtbike Snowmobile and 4x4 near the old Westwood Racetrack site (it was operational back then) and also on Burke Mountain.

This is normal. I just thought I'd share.doyoulikeithere wrote:That is just a dusting, but in Coquitlam, its a blizzard eh?
According to wiki, "On average, snow falls on eleven days per year, with three days receiving 6 cm (2.4 in) or more. Average yearly snowfall is 48.2 cm (19.0 in) but typically does not remain on the ground for long. Winters in Greater Vancouver are the fourth mildest of Canadian cities after nearby Victoria, Nanaimo and Duncan, all on Vancouver Island"
Did you get any?
How long ago? That area has changed a lot.doyoulikeithere wrote:I used to live in Coquitlam too, at the foot of the hill on Johnson Street, near Glen Drive.
The track is gone without a trace. I met a golfer (it's a country club now) once who mentioned it, but I think most people don't even know it existed.doyoulikeithere wrote:Used to love to dirtbike Snowmobile and 4x4 near the old Westwood Racetrack site (it was operational back then) and also on Burke Mountain.
I did some backcountry skiing on Burke last winter. There were plans for a resort at some point.
~ 1,000 m
I stayed at a Search & Rescue cabin up there...
LOTS of snow on the mountains here ...

Re: We got our first big dump of snow this season.
Westwood speedway was open and races every weekend in the summer. After work in the evening, I would blast up there the back way on my XR350R and watch the cars do time trials and practice. I used to stand at the downhill end of the Scurve, and watch the Datsun 510s slide thru there at high speed. Ahh Lottsa great memories there. I know that now all the Trials riding up on the ridge has given way to the golf couse and the street of dreams, but once it was mud trail under the powerlines. I prefer to remember that. I even rode my XR in the snow up there.

Best part of this time of year is the additional beverage cooler not requiring power.

The temperature is going up and it's starting to rain. The snow will probably be gone by the end of next week.
