Where on passenger side to go through firewall?

Post by Herbie »

Hey guys, hoping someone can point out a good solution - I haven't found an obvious place to drill the firewall and add a grommet to bring in some radio (CB/HAM) antenna(e) through to the cabin from the top of the engine bay area.

I have the appropriate gland grommets to make the connection watertight, etc., but can't find anywhere on the pax side firewall that looks like it'll be easy enough to drill through without dropping the freaking engine.

Ideas?

PS - How does the radio antenna enter the cabin? I pulled the mounting plate and see the cable goes under the cowling somewhere, and I see where it gets into the center dash but the cable disappears behind the airbag/heater stuff on the pax side.

Thanks.

I think the stock antenna goes through the body under the fender.

Close your eyes and throw a magnetic dart! Where ever you try to get your arm in to reach it is probably the only place you can get your hand and drill in to make the hole! Best wishes, Kelly

OK, ended up finding a path down the passenger side front fender and into the footwell area just forward of the front door.

Not quite as elegant, but out of the way and easier to get to. Deets and photos coming when I finish.
