work van still working.

Post by rydeon »

Just acquired my work van that has been under my butt for 12 years. Originally purchased at a park n sell with 105,000 miles. As of its retirement it has 548,103 miles. Been a great van. Obviously with a few trannies and fuel pumps, water pumps etc. Motor is original and still runs perfect. Anyone have this kind of mileage on a 2000 2wd basic astro?? The company gave it to me because i guess I have earned it after riding in the damn thing for 443,000+ miles!! Gonna bring the old girl home and clean her up and see if i can hit 600,000. Must not have been built on a monday or friday.

Thanks. I was wondering about the record myself! As far as oil goes it just has had normal 5w-30 quaker state and mobil(dino not synthetic) up to about 350,000. Then i switched it to Castrol 20w-50 which the oil change place charged more for. I switched due to the oil pressure at idle getting a little lower. Now since i am doing oil changes myself i will probably just run chevron or havoline if i can find it. Its a little late in the day for synthetic!! Any thoughts on oil?? Thanks for your time.
