you know the pin that you latch the door to when using the rear doors ? The one that limits how far open the doors can swing ? Well the spot weld on mine failed last week and the pin fell out. Looked like a real simple fix, just pop off the bracket and weld the pin back in place. When as I took the 3rd and final bolt out of the bracket I heard the backer ( that the bolts thread in to ) fall and now I cant seem to get to it. Of course its on the drivers side with all the AC stuff in the way.
Any ideas how to get in there and retrieve that backer ?

Hi,
The old standard methods uncle:
1. Fish a magnet in on a metal coat hanger or strong nylon cord. The the end string is loop around your hand so you don't accidentally drop it inside. Harbor Freight does have strong rare earth magnets a reasonable price.
2. Just go to pic n pull and get new parts.
3. Call the Chevy dealer and have them do a nation wide search for parts.
4. Www.gmpartsdepartment.com. Web site mat show the part.

Re: how to access the rear door latch pins bracket
problem is I cannot get access to the backside to fish out the backing plate. I would need to remove the rear AC stuffs and the interior cladding in hopes I could reach around like I can on the Passenger side where the jack is.
I have pics on my phone but never got around to uploading them

I am hoping there is a better way. I know I cannot reach around on the PS where the jack is to reach that plate. There must be a better way
