I've replaced the blower resister thing 3 times, once with a new fan too. Once again, the top speed does not work and we have to slam the dash whenever it stops blowing. Slam, slam, slam and it starts up again.
Advice, direction please…

I would say that if vibration from slamming on the dash gets it to work, then it might be the switch or the connector to the switch.

If it's the top speed, doesn't that mean that the High Speed relay is (should be) engaged? Whacking the dash might be jostling the relay, maybe?

even slamming doesn't start the high speed, only the other speeds

Herbie - Just curious, where is the high speed relay? Is it in a different location than the one under the hood?

As far as I know, it's part of the same assembly as the resistor pack, but electrically somewhat "isolated". The selector switch at the dash just enables the high-speed mode which turns on a different wire that bypasses the resistor pack.macsveen wrote:Herbie - Just curious, where is the high speed relay? I guess I misspoke when I said whacking dash jostled the "relay", I meant the switch/wire pack that has a whole bundle of wires going to the resistor pack under the hood. I'm still learning some of this myself, I'm having intermittent blower issues where it will just "come and go".
Here's a good video I just watched on the resistor pack where the guy also walks through the electrical diagram:
