Gary, whether 95 or 98SE it is the same thing. Plug the usb cable into the camera, turn the camera on, plug the cable into your computer (it should already be on) and if the camera is detected you don't need any special software to get the pictures off as the camera works just like a drive. Look in your "My Computer" and see if a new drive icon comes up and that is your camera.

Jim,

My computer is on the desk top. When I go there I see the camera program. When I click on that it shows a quick download function as one of the componets. When I click on that it says I need XP or 2000 to download the the program.Connecting the camera to the computer the camera's program will not move at all.Disconnecting the camera and the camera's program works fine.Nothing shows up if the camera is connected to the computer differently on the computer.I have photobucket and the only thing I see there is the normal download for files already on the computer. When I click on the file that I see under my computer nothing happens. This is a hp and has two USB port connections side by side which I guess would be for printers and I don't own a printer.Someone else suggested canon didn't write a program for a 98SE because the camera's came less expensive about the same time XP and 2000 came out. That this computer doesn't have OS.That is what is happening once the camera is connected and all about what I have figured out so far.

Thank you for your reply,

Gary

No problem. It could be that. I have win98se on the computer upstairs which happens to be an HP. I usually run Ubuntu linux on it, but I can try out my new Fujifilm camera on it and seen what happens.

BAH tell your shop that they suck lol.

#1 Win 98SE uses a fat file system. You can transfer the files easy as pie if you connect the drive upto a new system.

#2 That computer CAN be used for it. For ease of use it can be done in windows 2000 or XP both of which are installable on that hardware. BUT that's where the keeping data becomes tricky unless you pick up another drive.

The long and short of it is.......... IT IS POSSIBLE. I do it for older non tech people all the time. My forte aside from network related shizza is getting old hardware to do AMAZING things lol.

Because my GF who is very non techie uses my computers I run ubuntu on most of em. My servers are running Slackware. I also use SUSE and BackTrack (WiFi fears me :D ). I also use Parallel Knoppix on my Cluster.

So where were you and jim during the long discussions and such me and mr roboto have or had regarding linux and the fun things you can do or we do with it.
