Well, we didn't wheel on the 16th like planned so I am still working on the installation. This is gonna be as long as Peter's V8 project!

I made up all the hoses and removed the tank for final sealing and tightening of the fittings and then I started on the paint.

IT LIVES!!!!

I put 5 gallons of hydraulic oil in today and re-spooled and lubricated the cable on the winch. I will have to take speed measurements with no-load and under load to see what the difference is. I will post up some pics soon!

The speed difference is awesome already! $\:D/$

Fabbed a piece of aluminum for the dash and mounted in a http://www.12voltguy.com winch and dual battery control. I won this setup in a give-away! $\:D/$

I will be adding in at least 2 gauges, one for fuel pressure and one for air pressure. I may also add in one for hydraulic pressure later on. Hopefully in the next couple of days I can get a line speed measurement of the winch.

So get some hydraulic fluid stains on the upholstery already!

Went out and got line speed measurements. $\:D/$

At engine idle 800 rpm's we got 16 Feet Per Minute on the drum.
At 1500 - 1600 engine rpm's we got just over 35 FPM! =D>

Now these speeds may not mean much but consider that the top line Warn electric winches are running 35 - 40 FPM with no load. We measured ours with the van in tow and Lynne riding the brake to keep it the cable tight. Plus the hydraulic winch will pull rated load at about the same speed where electric winches will be down around the 5 - 7 FPM speed!!!!!! Under load is where my winch will shine!

Yeah but.....you lost your cup holders. Like, what the heck's wrong with you man? First you delete the a/c, now no cup holders? What's next, no more sex? And all in the name of off-roading? It ain't right, man. It just ain't right......
