Correct, but I think you keep your squirrel cage.
If the motor is original, then it will be enclosed in a rubber case. You need to take a razor knife and cut along the groove. It's an easy procedure. Took me about 20 mins. My replacement motor came with instructions too.

The factory blower wheel (the correct term for the squirrel cage) is plastic. The aftermarket is metal. Buy a new wheel and motor and it'll last longer. Somewhere in these forums is a write-up for the replacement that I posted.

The 2 different blower motors I have bought (for 2 different vans) came with the squirrel cage fan already attached and both had lifetime warranties. Get them at Autozone or Advance Auto for around $30.
