It's all really very trivial, and it doesn't make a bit of difference one way or the other. I understand the way you are thinking Peter, and that might be true if you are talking about the beginning of time... but were not.. You see, with the calander you have B.C (before Christ) and A.D (Anno Domini) - which translated means in the year of the lord. So, as soon as he was born, you have year 1.

So, it's funny when you think about for so many different reasons... we say we are living in the 21st century... but, time went on before Christ, so, maybe we aren't living in the 21st century, it depends on how MUCH time went on before he was born..

Then, if every thing above is correct, why don't we celebrate New Years day on Christmas day? That would've been the start of the A.D. calander right?
But, of course, no one can say with certainty when Jesus was actually born.. so we will never truely know...
Of course, this is all under the assumtion you believe in God and Jesus.
Me? I try not to get into celebrating the end of the decade, I just celebrate the end of the year.. and I haven't even done that the last couple years!

bc, ad, who knows, who really cares. What happened to the 30 odd years Jesus was supposed to have lived. We don't even count those years. God and Jesus are all man made ideals for man to believe in.
I believe in myself, my dogs, Chevrolet, and, well, that's about it.
Right now my brain is starting hurt.
I would like wish all of us the best in the coming year.
I would also like to remind everyone of our troups over sea's who have spent the holidays away from home. Canada lost five more good men over the holidays. We have now lost 138 of our best in Afganistan. We need to bring the rest home.

Hey, if a person is looking for a reason to celebrate, fine, but it is just another day.

Several years ago I tried to switch everyone over to the 'Matt' calender. Basically, revolved around the day I was born. Sadly it never took off.....

Nice try, but it doesn't work that way. We went from BC to AD with NO Year Zero between.

Do you start counting at Zero or One?
