what they didn't take the van AND gave you the check
that rocks my insurance would take my van before i saw any money

It really depends on his insurance company. My wife and one of my daughters have both totalled two of my vehicles and their insurance rates didn't go up that much.

Consider this:

1. Driving without proof of insurance
2. Delivering pizza for a living
3. Hit & Run
4. Leaving the scene
5. Failure to report

I spoke with the adjuster for his insurance company (Progressive). He said that all 5 are call for raising the rates, if not cancellation of his policy. If he had been delivering pizza at the time, the claim would have been denied; in which case, I'd sue his pants off!
