Looking for drive train off road shop in Sedona.

Hi everyone.

I am somewhat new here. I first joined back in the summer, posted some questions now and then and you were all very helpful. I haven't been on simply because life got in the way, and I really didn't have much to add.

I am going to be in Sedona for the next few weeks and I am looking for a good off road and or drive train shop I can price some tires and other add on for our Vans.

I may also need my front diff serviced, there is a definite vibration coming from it. I have been chasing this vibration for months. I proved it is coming from the front diff this week. The driver side seal had started to go a few weeks ago and is now leaking pretty good. On the drive down here, 2300 miles, I decided to check the level, turns out it was down a bit. I had changed it back in Sept. Before another huge road trip, Toronto to Vegas.

I picked up some 80-90 fluid and over filled the the diff (van on a slight slope). Back on the high way the vibration was still then but the pitch had most definately changed.

I am hoping it is just a loose pinion yoke nut.

If my memory serves me correctly I remember seeing that at least one member lives here.

Thanks in advance guys.

I don't have an answer to your question as I've only been to Sedona once. If and when you find someone to check your front diff I hope it's something simple. If its not, remember its the same front end found in S-10 trucks and Blazers and Bravada's. it's probably cheaper and easier to swap it out than fix yours. Make sure you check your gear ratios. You can find it on the RPO sticker. Heres what the codes mean
G80 : AXLE POSITRACTION, LIMITED SLIP
GU4 : AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
GU5 : AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
GU6 : AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
GT4 : AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO
GT5 : AXLE REAR, 4.10 RATIO

I envy you and your miles! Good luck and happy trails!

Thanks for the info and response to my post.

I am assuming the gear ratio codes are the same for Blazers and
S-10's?

And just one thing to contemplate if you do swap out your front diff. S10 4x4 with manual transmissions came with a cast iron diff. This is a very nice upgrade and these things are getting rare. I got mine for $225.00 shipped. If you search here http://www.car-part.com/mobile//index.htm you may get lucky. FYI all ZR2's came with 3.73 ratio gear sets
