I have recently had my transmission changed with two used transmissions
what a waist, both lost reverse in a few weeks of use
now i am considering either paying to have the curent transmission rebuilt or buying a remanufactured transmission
any advise?

I recently had a pro rebuild my transmission with all the extras to make it heavy duty and three days later of receiving vehicle back started skipping second gear and reverse went out. Needless to say mechanic is just as dumb founded about it as myself.
He has not taken it apart yet.
very odd that this happened three times in a row, first time was a used transmission, then within a month swapped it out for another used transmission because it was under warranty. I had to pay each time for labor.
Third time had second used transmission rebuilt.
My only regret is not holding on to original transmission and having that rebuilt.
Even the original was from Advance auto I was told but I ran it hard for 5 years or more

Should have bought the reman. They are dyno tested and warrantied (including labour!)

If it was done properly, there will be no "next time." If there is a "next time" you might consider paying yourself for the labor and investing that in better quality hard parts to get maximum life.
