Wiper arms

Post by kamenz »

Hi ,did somebody ever find some "normal"wiper arms for the Astro which tilt back 90* and stay there-for snow removal and to keep them from freezing to the windshield. This would be nice. GM engineers need there head examed. ](*,)
Thanks,Manfred

"Normal" is a relative term. Until the japs (and/or germans) came out with it, none of the american manufacturers had wipers like that. I know my 06' Charger has 'em, but it isn't surprising that GM never bothered updating the Astro.

By the way, in case anyone's interested. Ordering new wiper arms from GM gives your truck a newer look (the black on the arms is prolly half gone on anything over 2-3 yrs old) and the arms come c/w OEM GM summer wipers. I don't remember the exact cost, but I remember telling myself that for the few bucks more it was worth it.

Lynne's 2005 TrailBlazer has the flip out wiper arms and so does my 2003 Ram. It is definitely nice to have the option. I will have to try and fit the TrailBlazer arms on the SPB. These may be a viable option for us.

I just paint them with "bumper black". Just the arms, and run Anco Aero blades. Just as good, but you get to use spray paint.

my stock 99 arms actually are still completely black yet, no fading or chipping, and it has never had a garage to sit in. but yeah they do not stay up unlike my old 99 chevy express work van which did, gm is weird. i always liked how in the express the interior door handles were metal but the exterior ones are plastic whereas on an astro the interior handles are plastic and the exteriors are (SHITTY) metal.
99 SLT Safari AWD, G80/GT4 rear, Burgundy, 196,000 and counting (strictly AMSOIL) flowmaster 40series muffler no more cat, K&N Kone Filter, roll pan, 255/60/15 rubbers mounted to 15x8.5 inch American Racing Tailgunner wheels, billet grille, CB Radio, Alpine Deck, Shag carpet, the list goes on....
03 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, LB7 Duramax Diesel, 5 speed Allison Tranny, Crew Cab Long Bed, no muffler or cat, 4 inch turbo back and side piped. not too many other mods yet, also addicted to AMSOIL.

I just fit my wiper arms once or twice a year when ever it happens to rain...... the aero-dynamics of my bread-bin shaped van cuts through the air sooo much easier with them removed....... [sarcastic]

On my 98 I just lift them and pull the little tab at the base out and they will lock out 2"-3" from the glass allowing me to clean etc., thats also how you completely remove them, real easy and no tools required
