Transfer Case Cable Shifter

When I installed the 10 gallon hydraulic tank between the front seats, I had to remove the floor mounted transfer case shifter. I used the hole in the floor to run the hydraulic hoses. I first measured the amount of throw I needed to shift the t-case from 2WD HI to 4WD LO and found I needed 2.75". I then looked through McMaster-Carr and found some heavy duty low friction 4 foot long cables. Cable part numbers 1338K21. These are threaded ends at 1/4"-28. I also ordered some clevis rod ends and ball joints to mount on the ends. Total cost on these parts was under $130 and I got enough to build 2 shifters.

I then just started measuring and figuring out how I was gonna make the cables go smoothly. I think the pics will speak for themselves more or less.

The brass handles and bushing was made by my buddy Bill who has helped with most every step of the SPB's build from the first OLV lift to the SAS and the herculining.

Bolted to the floor in 3 places and also bolted to the seat frame.

Once the cables and shifters were complete I needed to make the bracket to hold the cable so I could connect it to the transfer case. The second cable is not used currently. My plan is to build a D D Machine doubler using the existing 231 and adding a NP241C transfer case behind it.

Lookin good. But I think that stick is gunna get awfully annoying after a few crawls. It doesn't leave much room for your knee after a downward slam coming off a decent rock.

You are correct...I plan to remount it straight(er) this spring. I was a little slow in getting this done and winter was approaching.
