Took these exploring yesterday. A few hills gave us bit of a struggle but she never got stuck once! (Good thing too, we were about an hour away from my closest friend who could actually pull us out!)

Sugarloaf Mountain or somewhere around it. We went mudding later that night but was too dark to get any decent photos. Pulled up to the local bar and parked next to a shiny and clean f250 with a lift and some big rubber asked the guy why his truck was so clean, he gave me a look and said "what the hell did you do to your van?" I just grinned.

The BFG TA KO's must give pretty good traction? Did you leave the van in 2nd gear or sometimes did you need 1 st gear for steep hills?
Does your 97 AWD have the Tow Haul selector?
I have a 2003 AWD with 225-70-16 BFG TA KO's and air shocks in the rear. I may crank the torsion bars a bit more.
I guess I should order the Overland 2 inch lift kit.
I installed a front light bar on the front bumper for some Hella 500 round driving lights.
I installed 1/4 inch steel plates under the cross member and was able to install some nice tow hooks for front recovery.
I plan to use my rear 2 inch trailer hitch and a 3/4 inch pin D ring in the draw bar for rear recovery.
Did you air down your tires to 20 psi for more dig? or did you run the 35 psi just like highway pressure?
thanks,
Astrophysics

I'm running on no name street tires with a very unagressive tread pattern. Kept them at the highway pressures. Kept it in D and was really easy on it the whole time, no lift nothing special (yet
) Got any pics of your van? Sounds like a interesting setup.
