Ground level Tripod?

Since my camera people haven't been consistently available, I've trying to get the video repairs of Grumpy done solo. I borrowed a tripod from a friend and it works fine when not shooting under the van, but that is where a lot of my shoots need to be. What I did yesterday was lay the tripod on its side and turn the camera sideway on the mount, but there has to be something better for these shots. Any ideas?

Shorty tripods are available. There's also a bean-bag approach.

I think I'll be going all MacGyver tonight and trying something I read on Instructables.

I made my low "tripod" by screwing some of those double ended bolts that are used in furniture manufacturing into a peice of 2x4 layed on it's side. the nut side of the bolts fits the camera perfect. I also made a longer one for getting those tall weird areas using some 2x2 and another of those things. I can't think of the proper name of em ( the bolts) off hand but I can take some pics of one if you so please. Don't ask for specs on one tho I have no clue. I nabbed an overstock box of em when I did a stint at la-z-boy when I was in school. Awesome place come break time btw. Napping on giant very epensive couches at lunch and scamming the coolers that go in couch arms off the line to stuff you lunch in during the day ;)

So I rigged something up using a BMX bike's handlebar, seatpost clamp and $1.26 worth of hardware. Sits nice and low, while maintaining the upward angle I set it at.
Now if the rain would stop and ground dry out real quick, I could actually use it.

Here it is.
You can't see it, but the clamp is hinged.
