a couple of youg fellas at my church just bought these.

They decked them out in all the off-road gear like a mesh gear bag that goes beneath the seat in that empty space, headlight "roll cage", semi-gloss black paint. It actually is the coolest scooter I've seem, plus you can take it off road and thrash around. Reminds me of a mini-bike I had when I was a kid \:D/

If you want to really go old school, do the tube frame mini-bike thing with the briggs & stratton engine and a centrifugal clutch heh heh heh. That's a slick looking scooter, how fast will it go?
When I was a teenager in the 70's I saw a guy out on I10 doing about 60 on the biggest vespa I had ever seen. It was terrifying. Everytime he hit a bump the scooter went unstable on him. The wheels were too small to create any gyro effect for the bike at that speed.
that is sweet though. :supz: I don't get any respect in my 'stro on the highway, I can't imagine driving that on my commute.

Its a Roketa MC-54 - one of the new breed of scooters imported from China. Its basically a copy of a Honda Reflex with a Honda Helix motor.

I suppose it varies by state (& province!), but what are the general rules for scooters regarding having a motorcycle endorsement? I know certain size scooters don't require them, but I see 300cc scooters on the site listed above and it seems those should have some pretty decent performance comparable to motorcycles.

for the majority of the places that I know about, any scooter over 50cc or that will go faster than 31mph requires a motorcycle license.

And yes, the maxi-scooters (250cc and up) can run with motorcycles and are classed as such.

ok i understand everyone rush to save a buck on gas BUT does the cost of your new toy the insurance and the cost of getting your licence if u didnt already have one plus gear to wear riding it offset the amount of gas you save driving it?
