Bought my camera

Ok-you all setting down??.After about a two year period of talking about it I did in fact go out and buy a camera. It is a Canon A590 IS.Now I have to update my windows 98SE computer to be able to post pictures.I tried to download the CD that came with the camera and couldn't.I knew the current system didn't have enough ram space.I tried to direct load the pictures from the camera via the USB port and the camera's program wouldn't move. ](*,) ](*,) The instructions say something about downloading the pictures via bundle, but seems that is not possible either.(or atleast I couldn't figure how to do that.)Thru this week I will be contacting my computer repair place to see what that is going to cost to update to windows 2000.It"MAY"mean that I will be off line for a time. There is no way I am going to buy a new computer and be able to do the projects that I am involved in.So a update is the only way I can do this. What scares the hell out of me is the fact that I have over five yrs of research for my business, projects, and personal info on this rig.Having to go to a new hard drive must include transfering all the info.I continue to collect picture for threads during this time I try to figure what I need to do as the next step.

I had a hard time with posting myself but with the help of about 6 different people over a 2 week period, finally got it.
Just open up a free Photobucket account, download the pics to your software that came with the camera. Open up Photobucket and click browse, click pic you want to transfer to photobucket then download. After you get pic to PB, left click to highlight bottom box under pic then right click to copy, go to ASV's and paste pic,,that's it.

It has been a while since I used Win95, but if you plug the camera into the USB port what should happen, but might not because it is win95, is that it will be added as another storage drive. Click the 'My Computer' icon after hooking up the camera and see if another drive is added. You may have to wait a minute or two for this to happen. Then you can copy the picture files like you would any other file by clicking and dragging. I hope this helps.

They didn't add that auto mount feature for removable devices until win 2k.
Gary if you have the USB driver installed and if it's SE you most likely do. All ya gotta do is go to my computer then double click the new drive letter you don't recognize. That should allow you direct access to the pictures and then all you gotta do is copy/paste em or just access that drive from the photobucket upload and upload em straight off the camera..... If you don't see a new drive letter let me know and I'll tell ya what to do.

I know I'm kinda repeating you jim but it's gary, redundancy in instructions is required :P

I have XP running on a 233 Mhz Pentium 2 with 128 Meg RAM for a server/storage. I ran a 598 Mhz AMD with XP right up until recently so you will be able to upgrade. The computer places probly won't go for it but it can be done.
