Are AWD probs with uneven tires the same w NP231?

With the 231 Tcase, I assume there aren't the same issues with mis-worn or mismatched tires. Is this correct. I figure its now more a 4WD than AWD. Is the AWD alive when I'm in 4WD?

I wouldn't think so , based on my understanding that the transfer case only engages when the rear slips.
The AWD case has the front drive engaged all the time, so the differences in tire diameters causes havoc.
But, the electric case shoudl e 100% rear drive until front drive is called for , and that wil be infrequently and only when traction is poor enough that the differences in tire diameters probably won't matter anyway.

Thanks for the reply. Not that it should matter, but the NP 231 C is a manual shift. I installed (had a friend do it actually) a shifter from a suburban like "Lifted" did. Its sweet. I was thinking its more like 4WD, which is what I want. I want both my rears and one front getting power if I'm offroad. Is this the case, or does one of my rears have to spin (more than 20mph I guess with the G80) for the front to get power.
Dont really want to find a mud pit to figure this out...or put it up on 4 jack stands. Maybe I'll find some sand or something.

With the 231C transfer case you can run slightly different sized tires on the front and rear. When I say slightly different sizes, I mean you can have new ones in the rear and worn ones up front or use different brands front and rear as long as they are nominally the same diameter.
The front axle will do nothing until you select 4HI or 4LO. With the G80 you should get 3 wheel drive - 2 rear and 1 front.

Great..thanks. Lets hope the diffs and axles hold up once the 350 is in. Dont plan on "hammertime", but would like to test it a bit. Its more of my camping/living/climbing rig...but, its hard to say no to that fork in the road
