With the 4" lift and 31" tires, how tall are your vans? Trying to design a garage and I want Grumpy to fit if the garage gets built.

Good question! Just went out and measured. Just over 7' with a standard luggage rack.

Sounds like I should plan for 8' doors and 10' ceilings.

If you are building a garage, do 10' high by 9' or 10' wide doors and have a ceiling height of 12 to 14 feet for the future lift you want to install!

You could also lower your van, and roll like us WestCoast guys..... it would save you some ca$h on those huge garage doors....

True, definitely would save him cash on the doors. But...I undoubtedly have a biased opinion. It was priceless to remove and replace my transfer case without having to jack the van up! :poke: :D

Well consider this.a 12' door is a comercial door size and there are plenty of "take down"2nd's around for that.If it's a new build like yours, you could build for that size.Save money on a take down door too.

I have an older home with the standard 7' door height, my old astro with 5" lift and 31's did go in with about 2" left.
If I was designing a garage, I would go with at least 10' ceilings and 8' opening.

did you get my PM on lostkjs about shipping?

I just extended my shop this past summer. Here are shots of the old part and the new, I put in a 10' door with a 12' ceiling. This gives me a total of three bays now. One day I will put a lift in the new area but there not cheap so that will have to wait for now.

Thats a really nice garage, and the grass is nice too, been a couple months since I've seen any. :muhaha:

My van is about 7 foot 1 inch tall, just barely fits in my garage 7 foot 2 inch opening. I have to put a block of wood between the wall and door to hold it up far enough. Its not going to fit after the add a leaf. Only time it goes in there is to be worked on.

I have a 12x25 in the backyard thats falling apart and was never built too well in the first place. Was gonna tear it down and build a new one for the van but the market is so bad now that I've basically taken a 60% pay cut, so...

The new one is to have a 10ft ceiling so i can pop the top inside (out of the all too present rain) if I need to dry it out or something. 9ft door so van can enter/exit with kayak on top. Will be 18x30.

I hear there's some good looking new garage material in East Sooke, some disassembly required. :D
