What is the deal with the water based paints???.Any loss of depth or shine??.Any need for special spray guns??.I saw a show on TV where this body shop went on and on about the water based paints and how great they are.

Now that I think about it more,Poncho-if you have the time, maybe you could review the types of paints that is out there and the upside and downside of each type.I don't mean to impose on you.Just seems like info lots of us could benefit from.LOL Well aleast I could.

Thanks,

Gary

I USED THIS ON MY FULL SIZE

THE CAP IS JUST A FLAT BLACK FROM OMNI THE BODY IS THE SEALER IT HAS HELD UP REALLY WELL AND I USED ABOUT 3 QUARTS ON THE TRUCK TOTAL. YOU MUST PRIME ALL FILLERS BEFORE HAND OR IT SHRINKS REALLY BAD.

OK. So I have fenders and tanks for my bike that need painting. Going simple all gloss black. All parts will be bare metal. I was looking at acrylic polyurethane for the top coat. My question is what should I use to prime with. Do I need to go all exotic with expensive etching primer, epoxy primer, etc. Or can I just use plain old sandable primer? What should I use to clean the tins with before I paint anything? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I went to a local body shop supply place and got stripping wheels. The work awesome! Here is a link to one on ebay for reference.

napa sells the 3M one thats where i got mine just be sure to take it slow and get 3m adhesive cleaner also it will soften it up so it comes off easier just be careful you can burn through the paint with this if not careful
