It Sucks My Van is STILL Off the Road...

Post by mdmead »

Yesterday I took my wife, mother and daughter up in the mountains to Whistlin' Jack's Lodge for lunch as an early Mother's Day treat. I had told them that after lunch, we'd drive up a bit farther so we could check the snow melting progress on one of the local Forest Service roads.

So after lunch, we headed up Little Naches Road on Chinook Pass. We went quite a ways as the snow was gone down low. But then we started finding a bit of snow on the road. Just small patches that I was able to drive our Mazda MPV through.

But then we reached a patch of snow I knew better than to try. [-X

But it wasn't really that much snow! I wouldn't even have slowed down in my stock AWD Safari. And when it is sitting on 31" Pro Comp MTs, we could have challenged much deeper snow than we saw on this trip.

It's my own fault I know. #-o I've just got to make time to get back on this project! ](*,)

I know the feeling. My van has only been off the road for a week, and I am in the van DTs. It hasn't been from lack of trying on my part, but once I got things apart, I kept running into difficulties. I am hoping to make a lot of headway tomorrow morning, and at least get one side done. Maybe get more done Tuesday morning. If I could get it done early this week I would be a happy man, because the week after is looking very busy, and I need it to drive to the Harrisburg PA area the week after and would like a week of test driving to make sure everything is working well. Either way, I miss my van.

I know I don't deserve any. 8-[

OK, I've set a goal to get back in the shop THIS Friday. I'm only shooting for one day right now, but I'm trying to take a baby step here! I've got some parts to fit up and a couple of engines to move around. :swords:

Here is some inspiration. The universe needs a video like this with three or four Astros wheeling around. (Us two and Timelessbeing and Phrisk at Tahuya maybe?) There is currently no video that I can find with multiple Astros playing around. We can't let the VWs have all the fun, now can we!!! Yours with the 31" and V8 would be the Mac Daddy!

Maybe we all can meet LaGrasta, 97CargoJack and anyone else at the Oregon Dunes for a WECO.

Uhh, I'm gonna have to go with Jim's answer, Western Equivalant Camp Out. :D Yeah, thats it. Western Equivalant.

I knew I should have left it at "WACO" because that had a funny ring to it, but nooo, I had to be acccommodating and suggest a more centralized location outside of the state of Washington. Dang it. #-o
