Trip to the Auto Recycling Center

Post by CaptSquid »

I hopped into Klementine and boogied off to the local Auto Recycling Center in an effort to find a few grill pieces and whatever else struck my fancy.

Pickin's were mighty slim. Most of the grill pieces were broken or already gone. Likewise all the driver's door handles. I wonder why????? I did find some intact bumpers, which might replace the ones hit by others.

But the big find was a 93 instrument cluster. Good bye, Hockey sticks! Plus, it will resolve that pesky pegged oil pressure gage. The previous owner drove around with a faulty sender for too long. The gauge no longer works.

I decided to troubleshoot the old cluster and see if I could possibly keep it as a spare. So, I took out all the screws and attempted to disassemble it. 'Twas then I discovered why I could barely see the gauges at night -- ALL THE PANEL ILLUMINATION BULBS WERE QUICK FRIED! You would think that the previous owners would have at least tried SOMETHING.
